Spring Sharathon 2009
STAND and Stay Strong!
Dear Friend,
A few days ago a businessman told me that his investments had lost almost 50% of their value. Then he said: “But I know when I invest in the Kingdom of God – when I support my church and your ministry, those investments last forever. There is no loss.”
In the midst of the change and fear caused by the current economic turmoil, we are hearing from business partners who must cut back, and faithful partners who have to change, or even stop their support of Positive Hits 89.9 & 90.5 for now.
We are evaluating every dollar we spend, delaying what we can, and always looking for ways to save money without sacrificing outreach. The team here is incredible and we are doing more with less, because we are committed to keeping Positive Hits 89.9 & 90.5 strong!
I am encouraged by the faith of a man named George Muller. You may have heard of him – he is often used as an example of great faith. He was born in England in 1805. He had a reputation of being a liar, gambler, alcoholic, and thief until God changed him in 1825.
He then became a missionary to orphans. During his ministry in Bristol, England over 10,000 orphans were impacted by his care and generosity before his death in 1898.
Muller is famous for his prayer life. He believed that through prayer, the hand of God would move a heart to meet the needs of the orphanage. A story in Arthur Pierson’s biography of Muller gives testimony to that strong belief:
It was September of 1838. The orphanage had spent every dime it had on food. The children had been fed. Yet, there was no food for the next day. They faced the prospect of having to sell possessions to be able to feed the children. Muller did the only thing he knew to do: pray. He prayed all night. He begged God to move the heart of the people that lived near the orphanage – that they would be inclined to help.
Morning came. If no money arrived that day, they would have to sell something. Muller had been praying all night. There was a knock at the door. It was a dear lady who lived next door to the orphanage. In her hands was an envelope. That envelope contained enough money to meet the needs of the orphanage.
Muller moved the heart of God. God moved the heart of someone to action. The orphanage had food. Their needs were met.
What was the need? It wasn’t the cupboards. It was the orphans. By filling empty cupboards, the real needs of children could be met.
That same question applies to Positive Hits 89.9 & 90.5. What is the need? Salaries? Nope. Transmitters? Nope. Electric bill? Nope. It’s the people listening. Yet, we can only help them when the station’s cupboards are full.
Of those listening, many are spiritual orphans struggling to find their way home. The need is real. In this hurting economy, many are asking if God cares…is He real…will He help us?
Our music and ministry provides answers to those questions every single day, but it is the “technology” that must fill our cupboard to be able to minister. The fact is, without your continued financial support we cannot continue this ministry. Every minute of every day, 24/7, is made possible by people just like you.
Positive Hits 89.9 & 90.5’s Spring Sharathon is April 22-24. Our goal is $500,000. We are praying that God will move your heart to action. Will you begin that action right now?
Our Sharathons have always been fun, challenging – and critically important. It’s when we fill the cupboards to enable our ministry. Your giving is critical. Help us combat fear with faith. It is clear that some on our support team sacrifice to support Positive Hits 89.9 & 90.5. Your monthly pledge or special one-time gift is needed. Would you stand with us?
We are now asking for 12 month pledges, so we know we can count on you throughout the year. If you would like to make your monthly pledge for 6 months, just indicate so on the form.
Finally, would you pray that others who receive this letter would take the same action? Please pray that God will move hearts to action, so the needs of Positive Hits 89.9 & 90.5 will be met, and we can continue to be a strong voice of encouragement and hope.
Believing God moves hearts,
