Story (from website):
An epic motion picture set in an imaginative world of adventure, intrigue and romance, One Night With the King follows a young girl who rises from peasant to princess by going against the culture and seeking the King's heart rather than the riches of the kingdom.
So begins the story of Esther, One Night With the King, a story that reveals that all of life is under God's command. Power, position and prominence are one thing, but when Esther must choose between all she's ever dreamed of and the fate of her people, will she be able to find the courage to step forward and embrace her destiny?

Technical Info:
Scene at beginning shows dead people and blood. It is not excessively gory or detailed, but may scare or disturb some young or sensitive viewers. Scene of man being dragged, again not really gory. Stabbing (only knife and initial action shown, not the actual stabbing), )and hitting, some residual blood, but nothing graphic. A few scenes with women in slightly low-cut tops, brief and nothing focused. Kissing scene, shows passion, but not enough that I would consider uncomfortable.

Angela's Take:
The previews promise a beautiful, well-filmed, well-acted movie with favorite actors John Rhys-Davies, Peter O'Toole and Omar Sharif among others. Go to the website for a list of theaters. As it is a bigger budget, this one is playing in more theaters, including Manassas.
I really enjoyed this movie. Especially as the Book of Esther is one of my favorites in the Bible and I am a big fan of Queen Vashti. While some people view her as a rebellious woman, I view her as a woman with real integrity, who stood for her beliefs despite the consequences, as she had to have known them and the makers of this film apparently agree with me. They did add some drama to it, as filmmakers usually do. We can't know all the actual particulars, but their speculation and changes are not anything that are detrimental or that I would consider dangerous or upsetting.
The acting by most is superb, I have to say that the King and Queen Esther could have worked on their speech a little more. It seemed to fade in and out at times and made them a little less believable in their parts, however, everyone looks their part and the movie holds up well, especially as you get wrapped up in it towards the end. I especially enjoyed Tommy Lister's performance, as well as James Callis, who was a perfect Hamen.

Angelica from Middletown :
"This is another wonderful Christian movie, it really talks about our destiny, and how God has planned it all out, all we have to do is trust in Him, and He will cause everything He has in store for us to unfold, even when things seem grim, and maybe even hopeless and scary, trust in the Lord, He will make a way where there seems to not be a way."

Ellen from Woodbridge :
"One of the most amazing movies ever! The many parallels between Esther's relationship with the King, and our relationship with our KING touched me deeply. A superb movie!"

Crystal from Fredericksburg :
"High-quality, excellent, engaging telling of the story of Esther.  A must-see for everyone, believer and unsure alike."

Trevor and Carolyn from Culpeper :
"We loved this movie and highly recommend it."

Darin and Leah Lawson from Madison :
"I really enjoyed this movie.  The only thing I would say that is somewhat negative is that the king looked like he went a little too heavy on the tan-in-a-can.  He seemed rather orange to me.  Other than that the movie was great and I would recommend it to anyone.  We brought out non-christian friend with us and she thought it was very good."
